Bella Review
At the moment we’re reading…A History of the World Since 9/11 by Dominic Streatfield (brilliant), Jungle Capitalists by Peter Chapman, Futebol, the Brazilian way of Life by Alex Bellos (not new but great), Honey Money the power of erotic capital by Catherine Hakim (misunderstood), Believing in Britain the spiritual identity of Britishness (laughably bad), Pistoleros! the chronicles of Farquhar McHarg, and Trident and International Law: Scotland’s Obligations edited by Rebecca Johnson and Angie Zelter.
All are available to order from Word Power Books.
If you’ve got suggestions for what we should be reading or listening to or watching get in touch.
There are a couple of interesting books about at the moment well worhth a review – one by Andy Wightman – “The poor had no lawyers” which looks at ownership of land in Scotland and how that ownership came to be. The other is
Carol Craig’s “The tears that built the Clyde” – which looks at the culture of Glasgow and West of Scotland, linking it with the inequalities and poor outcomes of the area.
A great idea. Is BC reviewing or pointing people in the direction of existing reviews?
Hi Gerry, we’ll be reviewing but we are keen for suggestions about WHAT to review or by offers to review for us / with us. We want to broaden horizons (deepen?) beyond politics and party politics …
Can I immodestly propose my own book? Ignored by mainstream, it squats on nuclear warfare politics while singing foxy songs?
latest book that is . . .
