Vacation

af09c6d687170567cba31ef7b7d335d6I’m going on holidays (Costa del Argyll for a low-carbon austerity-busting staycation). Worry not, abnormal service will continue. Sliding imperiously into the editor’s chair to steal my cheroots and rifle through my back catalogue of the Broughton Spurtle is my colleague and collaborator Kevin Williamson, he of Neu Reekie and Rebel Inc fame, amongst much else. So all memos, grievances, cash, long conspiracy-theory articles about the Knights Templar, the Stone of Destiny and Chemtrails, epistles of great wisdom, ‘game changing’ essays and suchlike should be directed to him. He will be posting a regular blog on all things #indyref and beyond.

I am attempting a week long digital detox, or ‘social media de-lousing’ as someone put it, the results of which will either be a grumpy nervous wreck of fevered disconnectedness, or a refreshed and revived Bella, full of perspective sun-dashed and wind-blown with sand between my toes and the bit between my teeth. As with most west coast holidays the success is 93% dependent on the midge factor.

Argyle is a fantastic part of Scotland, apart from the insects.
Was there a few weeks ago and the midge population was moderate to strong.
Had a conversation with a chap from Suffolk who claimed that Avon oh so Soft was being used
by the Marines to repel boarders so might be worth a try.
We certainly donated more than a fair share of blood to the nasties.
    Have a nice trip.

  6. What happens on small islands first, is often subsequently repeated by this country at large.

So if you take a break from austerity and business as usual . . .

    Here’s hoping!

  7. David McCann says:
