Elaine Henry: Edinburgh Independent Radical Book Fair

The 18th Edinburgh Independent Radical Book Fair – the alternative international book festival – takes place from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 October 2014 in Out of the Blue Drill Hall, 30-38 Dalmeny Street, Edinburgh.

The fair includes at least 70 publishers and has been the source of sustenance, ideas and debate for almost two decades. This is a herculean feat by a tiny bookshop awash in a sea of commercial gigantism opposed by Amazon, supermarkets and moron culture. It’s the brainchild of the wonderful Elaine Henry of Word Power Books, interviewed here…

Wordpower books is amazing! Elaine works away so quietly, and makes so much happen.

  3. A great book to buy while copies are still available is ‘Inspired by Independence’, co-published by the National Collective and Wordpower Books. The ‘coffee table book’ of the indieref, it comprises essays and art by some of the main players on our side of the referendum. Thank you Elaine for the part you played in publishing this excellent book.

    Elaine Henry is a hero
