Lewis Cook and Suzi Rodden are Glasgow cosmic-pop duo Happy Meals. On August 12 at Kinning Park Complex they present Full Ashram Sleep Garden, “12 hours overnight communal sleep zone-out/in/out/in assembly” with all profits going to CalAid, a charity who work with refugees in Greece. All of the artists involved and Milk Cafe, who provide breakfast, have offered to volunteer their time and creativity. Lewis and Suzi’s playlist for Bella features many of the artists involved.

Xam DUO – Ashtanga
What better way to open up a mix like this than with the blissful tones of XAM. We’re privileged to be hosting their premier live performance in collaboration with Virginia Wing since they recently finished an album together.
Lo Kindre – Distant Dreams
Vibe-lord, Daniel ‘Lo Kindre’ Magee, also of Night of The Jaguar, his lovely long hair swaying through the cognitive trees delivering distant dreams directly into your mind.
Happy Meals – May You Be The Mother – May You Be The Sun
Here we are – we made it. We’ll be doing a special ceremony performing Full Ashram Devotional Ceremony Vol III.
Helena Celle – I’m Done With 666
Some say that in the renunciation of 666 we fully harness the energy it contains. Quantum gold – machines performing themselves – but do they think?
Iona Fortune – Meng
Pure orbs of energy suspended in silence. Inspired by the I Ching – resonance cuts through the darkness and shatters empty space.
Luxos – Vihrea Ovi
This is Maria of Cucina Povera and Dan from Lo Kindre together recently released on So Low. Ribeka, Katie Shambles and Iona from the label will also be doing a set at Sleep Garden as well as So Low.
Virginia Wing – Sonia & Claudette
Electronic oddities in collaboration with other electronic oddities – we are very blessed to welcome their presence with XAM. Deep manifest!
The Cosmic Dead – Anatta
Dronemaister, James T. Mckay of The Cosmic Dead will be performing a specially written piece called The One Chord. For sleepy heads with communal beds – sometimes you have to confront yourself before you can transcend.
Komodo Kolektif – Binaural Bintaro
Trance-inducing gamelan with analog synthesis going deeper and deeper. Just released on the always excellent Invisible Inc. and featuring a supergroup of excellence – expect the skies to hold you deep into sleep.
August 12/13, Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow, 9pm to 9am, £20 +bf. Tickets: bit.ly/SleepGarden
Next week Siobhan Wilson chooses the music following her triumph at the Green Man Rising finals in London, and her excellent LP There Are No Saints being featured as Album Of The Day on BBC Radio 6 Music.
