Ending colonialism is what is needed, but it doesn’t happen with a declaration of independence and a new flag. That just brings a more local elite into power to continue the same mistaken direction, exploitation and domination.

Should they focus less on electoral strategy than on culture shift strategy, and on connecting this to addressing the democratic deficit?
