Books Upside Your Head

Book art by Brian Dettmer - http://www.flickr.com/photos/briandettmer/Provoked by Peter’s article and regularly harassed by people who’s books we have promised to review, and haven’t (sorry), today Bella launches it’s new book review section. We’ll be focusing on an eclectic mix of contemporary fiction and non-fiction relating to the wider agenda of this journal, namely ‘connecting the independence movement with the realities of failed elite rule’ and  ‘For self-determination, autonomism & independence.’

To which we would add (anything else we bloody-well like).

This will be with a large nudge towards small Scottish publishers but also/and including kids books, poetry books, graphic novels, novellas, translated books, and much more. Our only limitation is whether publishers send us books and contributors step- up to read and review for us (I’m thinking of you Doogie).

So, do you have a book you want reviewed? Can you help us by contributing?

Our first review is by Kathleen Jamie reviewing The Sea Inside by Philip Hoare Fourth Estate, 374 pp, £18.99, June, ISBN 978 0 00 741211 2. Next up is Paradise Road by Stephen O’Donnell Ringwood Publishing.
