Bella Caledonia x Fermentations: The Power of Social Enterprise with Soul Food Sisters

Bella Takeover 10-12 April, with Guest Editor Caitlin Logan

In a special collaboration between Bella Caledonia and Fermentations, a podcast exploring the intersections between gender and gastronomy, co-hosts Amanda Stanley and Kate Bailey catch up with Djamila Siagh of women-led food collective Soul Food Sisters about their work in the East End of Glasgow.
Soul Food Sisters is a collective based in Glasgow and is run by migrant women who are driven by their love of making and sharing delicious food. The not-for-profit organisation brings together women from all over the world to share recipes and ideas, with the aim of ending social isolation through empowering women to develop their skills in both the kitchen and beyond.

Djamila has been involved with Glasgow organisations such as Scottish Refugee Council, Karibu, Scottish Refugee Policy Forum. Now, at Soul Food Sisters, she enjoys meeting women from different backgrounds with a shared interest in healthy food and helping others find community in Glasgow.
On the podcast, Djamila Siagh discusses the work of the organisation and the value and power of food and community.
