Over Lunan
Just before everything shutdown, my new arts company Aproxima assembled a creative team to stay at Hospitalfield Arts Centre in Arbroath and spend some time developing ideas at Lunan Bay, a stunning crescent beach with high sand dunes, a few miles up the north east coastline. It feels like a long time ago now, but when things open up again, we will create a new open-air performance ‘Over Lunan’, which is looking at ocean rise and flood mythology through time. The story takes you right back to Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq and Syria), and incredible ritual texts inscribed on clay tablets, which record emerging ideas that have helped form our outlook on the world, even 4,000 years on. This short photographic animation is a simple ‘mood board’ that we created for discussion as we develop the script and musical score over the coming months.

Another amazing project in the making – though realistically I think the delay will be far longer than is being currently discussed.
And whilst I regret this it does give one more glowing reason and anticipation to survive and enjoy this celebration of nature. Que sera eh ?

And finally, please make no mistake, I would dearly love to be part of this creative exploration, though almost all roles are already carefully and superbly covered. Which doesn’t stop me from dreaming of reprising my Channel 4 role as on-set stills photographer.

Thanks for that, it was a great few days bringing this together, indeed it will probably be Spring 2021 before it sees the light of day but we are looking at online
elements we can develop in the meantime.
