    Abair pìos.

Just listened through and need to digest but what a great piece of work with very many interesting strands. The colonialism from within, the politicisation and manipulation by the lairds ran deep and has left an indelible stain. Don’t we know. Often think of it like a trauma that’s never been addressed or counselled, meaning we can or could not move forward. We are collectively Aces high and yet we are still here.

The dearth of comments here surprised me, until I started to listen just now to this online lecture to The Gaelic Society of Inverness, and realised that the first 2 or 3 mins of Iain speaking are in Gaelic. After that, he moves into the English. (Some folks may have started listening and not realised, thus this note).

    Halò Iain

Bha mi a’ leughadh an seo gu bheil thu a’ rannsachadh “connections between plantation slavery and the Highland Clearances”. ‘S e cuspair a tha gu math inntinneach dhomhsa cuideachd. Chaidh a bharrachd air 60 daoine bho Gleann Moireasdain a Bharbados an deidh Cullotar mar thraillean. Tha mi cinnteach gu bheil thu eòlach air a’ chunntas ann an “Urquhart and Glenmoriston” le MacKay. Ach bu toigh leam cluintinn air na tha thusa a’ faighinn a-mach cuideachd. Bha smuain agam turas a dhol a-null gu Barbados air saor-laithean ach cuideachd faighinn a-mach an robh Granndaich no Dòmhnallaich air fhàgail an sin am measg nan “Redlegs”.
