2007 - 2021

Sea and rivers. Animals, birds. The seasons and sky. Memory, the future.

Kathleen Jamie’s first task as Makar – Scotland’s National Poet – is to create a collaborative nature poem. Members of the public and fellow writers are all being asked to submit a single line of nature poetry to the project. These words can be expressed in English, Scots or Scottish Gaelic.

Kathleen said “Join me in creating a collaborative, collective Scottish nature poem. It will address the COP26 summit in Glasgow, November 2021, when the world’s attention will be on Scotland and the global response to Climate Change. The collective poem will be composed of single lines submitted by anyone who lives in Scotland and who loves our planet. A collective poem because Climate Change affects all of us, everywhere, all species. If the poem is to be ready for November, we will have to work fast. But working fast is a central issue, if we are to avert the worst climate change predictions.

Poetry has always been at the heart of our thinking about nature and weather, but now the challenges we face are immense. Poetry is a way we can celebrate, mourn, question and create, and work together.
Sea and rivers. Animals, birds. The seasons and sky. Memory, the future. What do you notice? What do you care about? What is a Scottish Nature Poem in 2021?”

’S e cruthachadh dàn-nàdair co-obrachail a th’ ann an ciad dhreuchd aig Kathleen Jamie, mar Bharrabhàrd – Bàrd Nàiseanta na h-Alba. Chaidh iarraidh air sluagh na dùthaich agus co-sgrìobhadairean loidhne a-mhàin de bhàrdachd a chur thuice airson a’ phròiseict. ’S urrainnear na faclan seo a chur an cèill sa Ghàidhlig, sa Bheurla no sa Bheurla Ghallta.

Thuirt Kathleen, “Thigibh an sàs leam, mar Bharrabhàrd na h-Alba, fhad ’s a chruinnicheas sinn loidhnichean airson dàn-nàdair co-obrachail na h-Alba a chruthachadh. Bidh e a’ labhairt ris an àrd-choinneamh COP26 ann an Glaschu, san t-Samhain 2012, nuair a bhios aire an t-saoghail air Alba agus freagairt na cruinne ri Atharrachadh na Gnàth-shìde. Bidh an dàn co-obrachail air a dhèanamh le loidhnichean fa leth, air an cuir thugam aig duine sam bith ann an Alba is a tha measail air ar planaid. ’S e dàn cruinneachaidh a th’ ann, leis gu bheil buaidh air Atharrachadh na Gnàth-shìde oirnn uile, anns gach àite is gach creutair beò. Mas ann ron t-Samhain a bhios an dàn deiseil, feumaidh sinn obair gu luath. Ach ’s obair luath a tha aig cridhe chùisean, ma tha sinn gus bacadh a thoirt air an ro-innse as miosa a thaobh atharrachadh na gnàth-shìde.

Bha bàrdachd riamh aig cridhe ar cuid bheachdan air nàdair is an t-sìde, ach ’s ann an-dràsta a tha na dùbhlain romhainn aibhseach. Le bàrdachd ’s urrainn dhuinn comharrachadh, caoineadh, ceasnachadh is cruthachadh, agus obair a choileanadh còmhla.

A’ mhuir is aibhnichean. Beathaichean, eunlaith. Na ràithean is na speuran. Cuimhne, an t-àm ri teachd. Dè bhios sibh a’ mothachadh? Dè rud anns an gabh sibh suim? Dè th’ ann an Dàn-nàdair Albannach ann an 2021?”

Le crìoch ga cur air an dàn, thèid a foillseachadh air loidhne agus e aig cridhe film-dhàn leis an neach-ealain Alistair Cook. Dh’fhaodadh gun tèid a chleachadh ann am pròiseactan drùidhteach eile, san àm ri teachd.

Bidh am Barrabhàrd ag obair le Leabharlann Bàrdachd na h-Alba air a’ Mhìle Rìoghail ann an Dùn Èideann. Thuirt Asif Khan, stiùiriche LBA; “Cuide ris a’ ghalar mhòr, ’s e freagairt an t-saoghail ri Atharrachadh na Gnàth-shìde an cuspair as cruaidhe san là an-diugh. ’S i bàrdachd m meadhan as iomchaidhe guthan na h-Alba a chleachdadh airson cur an cèill, gu h-aona-ghuthach, ar dòchas, eagal agus lèirsinn fhad ’s a mhaireas sinn beò an cuideachd bheathaichean is lusan, air a’ phlanaid àlainn co-roinnte seo.

Tha stiùbhartachd ar n-àrainneachd na cuspair a tha dlùth do chridhe ar Bàrrabhàird ùir – cuspair a nochdas tric tro phròiseactan is sgrìobhadh Kathleen Jamie, fad na trì blaidhnaichean romhainn.
Bhosnaichear com-pàirtichean an cuid loidhnichean a thòiseachadh leis na faclan Let’s… no Today… sa Bheurla gus co-thàthadh a thoirt air an dàn. Sa Ghàidhlig chaidh a mholadh modh àithneach a chleachdadh, le gnìomhairean leithid Dèanamaid…, Faiceamaid…, Seallamaid…, Cluinneamaid… agus An-diugh a chleachdadh airson brìgh na Gàidhlig a thoirt am follais. Tha fàilte chridheil ro dhaoine de dh’aois is dualchas sam bith a bhith an sàs ann.

Chuirear fàilte air tagraidhean tro phost-dealain a’ phròiseict: [email protected] ’S e deireadh na Sultaine 2021 an ceann-là do thagraichean. Tha cumhaichean is tuilleadh fiosrachadh ri leughadh air làrach-lìn Leabharlann Bàrdachd na h-Alba, www.scottishpoetrylibrary.co.uk
