  1. Dougie Blackwood says:

A powerful statement and one that we all need to listen to.

    1. Alasdair Macdonald says:

Yes, indeed, but I can hear the cynical sneer from most of the mainstream media. Despite the advice regarding ‘balance’ issued last year by the BBC, BBC Scotland still invites climate change deniers on to its programmes.

  2. John McLeod says:

Every word of this is true. This is the most important challange facing all of us at this time.

  3. Gordon Benton says:

As the young people are saying – we are all guilty; but it is clear that first we have to admit it.
We can put the blame on the rich and privileged, the transcontinental corporations which want more and yet more of the world’s assets, the corrupt governments, but the responsibility has been ours, and we still are not doing too much about it.
That future generations will, in their despair and incomprehension, have us all on trial as complicit in their degraded world, is something we all take to the grave.

  4. Alistair Taylor says:

School’s out for summer, school’s out for ever. (Your man, Alice Cooper, of course).

Maybe the sooner humans go extinct, the better.
The plants and the surviving animals can get on with it, in peace.

Yes, we are all complicit, as Gordon Benton says. We could have done better.

Even now, as i run the Honda generator to power the computer and connect to the satellite internet, to tap a wee comment (too little too late) another chunk falls off the glacier. Ffs. Sometimes you just can’t win.
    Cheery bye.

  5. SleepingDog says:

Yes, it is no use looking to the past for great environmental leadership or conservative traditions in the UK for guidance.
Tudors drove wildlife to the brink:

Perhaps we should lower the voting age to six:

although something more revolutionary in collective decision-making does indeed seem called for.
