Saturday Night at The Howff with Texas & Wu Tang Clan, Iain Morrison and Calum Baird

howff /haʊf/. A favourite meeting place or haunt, especially a pub.

Our first Saturday at The Howff for December features a new EP from Calum Baird, Iain Morrison‘s latest collection and Texas and Wu Tang Clan reuniting for a brand new single.

Calum Baird is a 26-year-old, Falkirk based singer-songwriter and activist, playing songs that tie together progressive and romantic themes in a folk music style influenced by Bob Dylan, Dick Gaughan, Billy Bragg, and Phil Ochs. He has performed across the UK and Europe alongside Dick Gaughan, David Rovics, Grace Petrie and Attila The Stockbroker among others. His new EP A View From the Notebooks is out this week.

Iain Morrison, musician and songwriter from The Outer Hebrides has just released  Pots and Pans a collection of unreleased songs, B-dies and live tracks. Iain’s songs often reflect the stark bleak beauty of his home. This is a reflective album, skillfully crafted and a cracking companion for the long dark winter nights.

When Sharleen Spiteri met RZA last year while filming a documentary in Glasgow, the reminisced about the time Method Man performed “Say What You want” at the Brits in 1998. They vowed they would get together to record another Texas/Wu Tang collaboration. Hi is the result, a sneak preview of the new Texas album due in January and the first new material from Wu Tang Clan in over 3 years. Enjoy!
