Poem of the week : The incredible adventures of a Mind

The incredible adventures of a Mind

The Mind that doesn’t mind the ups and downs you put it through,
or the raw emotions that spark forest fires or arctic tundra which
violent winds howl over, bringing in unforeseen cold fronts.

The incredible adventures of silence and calm and long walks
with the Mind’s thoughts and the Heart’s frequent interjections
and looming sadness which crashes in uninvited, raucous thing.

Often these adventures are internalised monologue, owing
to the Mind’s inability to speak aloud…that’s Mouth’s job
and Tongue with assistance of Teeth, but not Mind’s doing.

You see Mind is charged with thought and idea making,
and invention and occasional dreaming, but of love, loss,
burgeoning desire, well these are matters of the Heart, alone.

Oh, and of the in between, shared by Mind and Body,
well, it’s only for them to know, only for them to partake
in dreaming up the past and reaching out toward an ideal future.

You see the Mind doesn’t mind your ups and downs,
but be kind because your mind is an incredible, beautiful thing.
