Gordon is a Scots expat living in London, who was social services director in Hackney in the 1980s in the front-line of Thatcher’s attack on welfare, and later lived in Latvia, Ukraine and Bangladesh while doing his best to help re-align UK and European development aid out of the control of the donors. He has been active in Haringey and north London since retiring from formal work in fighting gentrification as in the StopHDV [Haringey Development Vehicle] campaign, was a Green Party parliamentary candidate in 2015 but is now not a political party member, has always believed in grass roots democracy, and would describe himself as an ecosocialist. He was born in Moniaive and looks forward to an independent and much more democratic Scotland.
