Wikileaks 101
Wikileaks Julian Assange interviewed on TED by Chris Anderson, very good background on the project, how it works and a sense of Assange as a person (thanks to Mike for this). Warning this includes horrific coverage of US attacks in Baghdad …
Thanks for putting this up. The obvious cliché is that we live in interesting times but we do. Wikileaks has cracked open the Machiavellian world of international relations build over centuries on covert activities, secrecy and lies that once looked impenetrable. Whatever the immediate future hold for Assange his long-term prospects are bleak given the persistence of governments of all political persuasions to deal with those who threaten them.
More generally, the aftermath of internet activities following the closing of ranks of PayPal, Visa, Mastercard etc to squeeze the life blood from Wikileaks have introduced an interesting element challenging the existing norms of government activities and the power locks they depend upon to maintain the separation of the state from its citizens.
