  1. Thank you for sharing this. The imaginative is where we feel our thinking

Up until 3.00, so far, so warm and fuzzy. But this: “the butterfly is an evolutionary advance over the caterpillar.” – What an absolute crock of the proverbial! That’s like saying that a sheep is an evolutionary advance over the lamb.

How to throw away any credibility you had in a single mushy sound-bite.

    1. bellacaledonia says:

      It’s a metaphor. Chill.

  3. leavergirl says:

Richard Cain is right. Why didn’t they find a biologist who actually knows the process of metamorphosis?

The video has a good kernel, but too much woo.

Too much woo… mibbes aye mibbes naw. I think you’re not quite with it

      1. leavergirl says:

Why dontcha read the review I posted before blathering? 😉

      2. bellacaledonia says:

Well I did. I suppose the main criticisms – that against the writing style and against the science (or lack of it) werent strong enough for me. What I liked about the film and the book was the dismantling of the four myth-perception and the material on brain-waves and childhood development. I also liked the message (via Kroptkin) that cooperation is the real message of Evolution as opposed to competition.

But ultimately you are right, too much woo.

Well, turns out the vid is a promo for Lipton’s book.
Here is a sympathetic yet quite critical review.

  5. As a qualified scientist I enjoyed this comparison very much. Whether it’s an accurate portrayal of metamorphosis or not – the idea is easy to follow and the end result is still the same. I, for one, do not want to listen to the intricacies of biochemistry during a loose comparison.
