Someone much cleverer than I once said Edinburgh is not the Athens of the North, it is the Reykjavík of the south. The southern part of the ‘North’ an area and a concept.

    I fell in love with Iceland when I first saw it. It is truly magical. And as has recently been proved, they have a real democracy. They way they dealt with their banking crisis makes a lie of Alistair Darling’s assertion that Scotland is too wee and too stupid to cope.
