Poem for Michael Marra
We very rarely publish poetry on Bella but are happy to make an exception for this tribute to Michael Marra
Michael
he deserves a song
at least as wide
as those he gave us
a national anthem
his wee frame
carried gigantic thoughts
glittering with notes
up hills, into bars, into hearts
we were glad he dumped
coal in our bath
the tang of laughter-tears
in our soul
and the delight
he found around
he shared
an invisible teacher
his microscope
revealed the world
and the world
beside the world
he showed us
where beauty is found
an act of kindness
a gift
for us
and our only exchange
the tears
he would not seek
For Michael Marra, who died on 23rd October 2012
I am sure that Michael would have had an opinion on this.
I like it, though.
Choose your Haiku or form your Tanga. Lovely.
Thank you.
