Lovely
Absolutely brilliant show at St Brides on Saturday. Practically moved to tears. Well done to all musicians.
Heartlifting.
This is a brilliant album and the story behind it is fascinating too.
Mike Vass was diagnosed with Lymes disease which almost killed him, he spent a very long time in hospital and his father gave him a Neil Gunn’s book-Off in a boat, to read. A story about a sailing holiday on the West coast of Scotland. Mike Vass decided if he got well again he would do the very same journey as Gunn. And he wrote this album about that trip.
I saw him perform it at Celtic Connections along with a slide show of his journey, it’s fantastic.
Our bonny land. Our beautiful people.
