A fan of Aleister Crowley and an admirer of Nazi aesthetics, yeah what a great role model for our youth.
What an ignorant thing to say. I think you are referring to comments he made in the mid-1970s when he was being deliberately provocative, but isn’t that what artists are meant to do – they provoke, test boundaries, even if it offends? As for role models, as a general rule I’m not into rock stars or artists being role models but, Bowie was a fantastic role model for young people, particularly young people in the LGBT community in the 1970s because of the ways in which he normalised and made cool issues relating to gender and sexuality.
SÙILEAN DHÀIBHIDH BHUIDHE
Nach ann airsan a bha an dà shealladh sna Seachdadan,
oir tha sinn uile a’ seinn òran Ziggi a-nis,
air ar crochadh mar gum biodh bho uèirichean-stèids,
a’ smèideadh gu bàidheil ri Mèidsear Tom,
fiamh a’ ghàire oirnn air sgàth nan camarathan.
