This video disappeared from you tube and I couldn’t find it online for ages.
Great to see it again. Love Karine singing this.

    1. Charles L. Gallagher says:

      Hi Jacqueline,

I’ve never heard this version let alone Karine but I have to rate this version of Hamish’s iconic anthem alongside Pumeza Matshikiza’s rendition at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. But I must admit Karine’s location leaves Glasgow in its wake.

As for reason for removal can I suggest, INDY REF 1 and yoon interference sponsored by Wastemonster.

  2. Dougie Harrison says:

I first heard this on an LP of anti-Polaris songs in the early/mid 1960s. Hamish was one of Scotland’s finest men; poet, political beast, and singer. It’s been my favourite song for over fifty years, and should be new Scotland’s national anthem. Karine Polwart’s singing is as fine as Gaughan’s, but of course totally different. And the setting is just perfect!

  3. Alan Webster says:

    Thanks for that

  4. Graham Ennis says:

That should be played at the opening of Holyrood, each session.

I think music is the mojo of every nation – and so if we are to build one / or reclaim one, the Freedom Come All Ye is the cornerstone on which we build.
Internationalist in outlook, asking forgiveness for our own complicity in empire building/ mass murder … this song is what kickstarts a new Scotland post -Covid 19.

  6. John Bygate says:

As well as being beautifully sung in such an iconic place this brought ‘a tear to the een’ and made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck at the same time.

No bad for a wee lassie from Banknock who went to Denny High School!
