Movement of The Revolution Gone Viral

A film by Marie Williamson: “As an activist and dancer, I look for the movement within movement. I am drawn to see how grassroot activism can be done through dance. For 10 years, I have begun to see more dance being shared on social media which tells a story of different political oppression & social justice, and the joy of resistance through dance.”

“In this AV essay which i made for my MA in Screendance, I will show you a couple of these movements that have caught my attention, and what their political statements are. One of the main dances is the Dabke, a Levantine dance currently being used for the political movement of Palestinians and their allies across the globe.”

“Dance has no language yet can be the key, exempt from language or cultural barriers, to understanding political resistance movements happening across the globe.”
