I stopped listening when she said ‘Scotland is wealthy country’ Should have been Scotland COULD be a wealthy country.
Scotland has the 6th highest GDP per capita in the world and the 2nd highest in Europe (according to Scottish government figures). If this was distributed equitably, everyone would receive an annual income of £36,175 per year.
Scotland is a comparatively wealthy country. Stop talking it down.
In order to meet some of the targets there has to be realistic reductions in electricity charges, including current standard charges, to void people using fossil fuels for heating homes. Also, in most rural areas the rail services have long since been removed (Beeching cuts) and even today more and more bus services are being removed. Therefore the only wat that people can get around is by car and many electric cars are far too expensive for many people like myself to afford, along with the major concerns about the extraction of scarce minerals from third-world countries (at little or no benefit to them).
