Investigating war crimes in Gaza I Al Jazeera Investigations

Al Jazeera today publishes evidence of potential war crimes committed by Israeli forces based on material from their own soldiers who may have incriminated themselves by posting film or photographs on social media.

Many of the scenes are extremely disturbing.

No doubt but that the Israel is vile regime informed by racist Zionist ideology. They get away with murder by the complicity of countries such as US and UK who defend Israel at UN. The UN itself is spinelesss as resolutions supporting Palestinians have been ignored since 1948.
UK Labour Party and current cabinet stuffed with arselicking members of Labour Friends of Israel (LFI). Starmer’s leadership campaign was funded by Trevor Chinn who founded British-Israeli Communications ( BICOM) and a strange organisation called “We Believe in Israel” .
The Israeli lobby has hugely increased in recent years with the Jewish Students Union funded by the Israeli embassy. I could go on —-

Why, with such overwhelming evidence of the evil and criminal actions of Israeli forces, and indeed the moral degeneracy of significant elements of Israeli society, do the British public tolerate their own pro-Israeli governments and establishment? Probably they are not too far different.

Some background provided in the early chapters of Ronen Bergman’s Rise and Kill First: The Secret History of Israel’s Targeted Assassinations (2018, 2019) make the link between the British imperial-theocratic-royalist and Israeli quasi-constitutions clearer. Bergman describes two separate legal systems, for Israeli citizens, another for intelligence/defence, the latter bypassing parliament and public scrutiny (analogous to the British royal prerogative). Bergman goes on to say that at the height of Lehi Zionist terror abroad it was British security service MI5’s top priority. The Zionist terror factions claimed (unconvincingly given British imperial decline and geopolitics) they drove the British out and their “guerrillas, assassins, terrorists” played “a central role in the building of the new state of Israel’s armed forces and intelligence community” (p20).

Operating in shadow, a culture of ‘anything goes’ (racist surveillance, torture, perjury in courts and concealment of truth from legal authorities, extrajudicial killings) arose. Israel inherited the British Mandate state-of-emergency regulations (which it apparently still uses today, for example in extreme censorship of news media on military and intelligence affairs).

“Rather than kill prime Palestinian terrorists, they would avenge the killings of Israelis by attacking and terrorizing the Arab villages from which the terrorists had set forth to harm Jews”, or provoke such attacks.
Bergman covers the Qibya massacre in Chapter 3. This was in 1953.
