Farewell to the Earl of Inverness

It looks like the moves this week to strip Prince Andrew of his titles were a defensive act ahead of more revelations, and not a final act to draw a line under his disgraceful behaviour. The action – portrayed (hilariously) as Andrew ‘doing the honourable thing’ – is an attempt to distance the Royal family from him and his entourage. The old order of British elite rule is faltering.

Every time the Royal Family thinks they have contained the problem, or severed ties with the man, a new revelation emerges. Now it emerges that the Metropolitan Police is “actively looking into” claims that Prince Andrew passed his alleged teenage sex abuse victim’s private information to his protection officer.

As Graham Smith, CEO, of Republic and author of Abolish the Monarchy said: “None of what the royals have done is about justice for young girls abused by rich and powerful men. It’s all about protecting the positions and privileges of other rich and powerful men.”

So what else is going to come out?

First, as Emily Maitliss told the Observer: “The Virginia Giuffre book is out on Tuesday. It is explosive. She is categorical about the occasions she met [Andrew] and had sex with him.”

[Nobody’s Girl by Virginia Roberts Giuffre review – a devastating exposé of power, corruption and abuse]

Second, the Mail on Sunday has the emails between Andrew and Ed Perkins, Queen Elizabeth’s deputy press secretary, in which he had asked one of his personal protection officers – part of the Met’s elite SO14 Royalty Protection Group – to dig up information about Ms Giuffre.

This is not putting a distance between Andrew and his family, it is embroiling them in all of this.

The Mail reveals: “Andrew’s email to Mr Perkins is one of a series of explosive disclosures contained within a cache of emails currently with the US Congress that have been obtained exclusively by the MoS. The ‘Epstein files’ also reveal:

  • Epstein set Andrew up on a dinner date with a woman who claims the paedophile sexually abused her for years
  • Andrew admitted to Epstein that it was possible he met Ms Giuffre and there could be a photograph – despite later declaring: ‘I don’t remember meeting her at all’
  • The paedophile financier claimed he bankrolled Sarah Ferguson for 15 years
  • Fergie begged Epstein to lend her up to $100,000 while he was still under house arrest and pleaded to be allowed to visit his notorious private island
  • Ex-minister Peter Mandelson warned Epstein his relationship with the Yorks would end badly.

Ms Giuffre’s family said: ‘These outrageous emails are further vindication of Virginia. It underscores her courage and her strength as a truth teller.’

Third, we have the American angle. Julie K Brown is a journalist for the Miami Herald whose investigation led to the arrests of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. She has uncovered that Matthew Menchel, who was chief of the criminal division in the Miami US Attorney’s Office and helped negotiate Jeffrey Epstein’s sweetheart deal – which allowed Epstein to be released in 2009 and continue to sexually abuse and traffic hundreds of women and girls – is listed multiple times as having dinner and meetings with Epstein after leaving the US attorney’s office.

A member of the House Oversight Committee asked Menchel’s former boss, Alex Acosta, about a photograph of Menchel and Epstein skiing in Aspen. Menchel told the Miami Herald he has never skied with Epstein.

More here.

The point is that this is not going away, it is all spilling out. Even with a pliant press and a broadcast media chock-full of apologists and sycophants, it can’t be suppressed.

As Andrew and Sarah Ferguson rattle around their 30 bedroom Royal Lodge, the hope is that all of this will go away. The BBC’s Royal Correspondent’s are silent on all of this and Ed Miliband held an interview at the weekend where he said this “Was a matter for the Royal Family to consider.” Seven of her UK charities have now severed ties with Sarah Ferguson.

Few MPs have spoken out. Stephen Flynn, Clive Lewis, Nadia Whittome and Rachael Maskell being the exceptions.

Nadia Whittome, the Labour MP for Nottingham East, said: “It should be a given that the state removes Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s titles, rather than allowing him to hide behind voluntarily renouncing them and mealy-mouthed statements blaming his accusers.”

Rachael Maskell, the Labour MP for York Central, said she was writing to ministers this week to back her bill giving the king or a parliamentary committee the power to formally remove Andrew’s titles. The contradictions are hilarious. Maskell first proposed a removal of titles bill in 2022 which would enable the monarch or a parliamentary committee to remove titles in Andrew’s case and in the future.

The British establishment wants this all to go away, just as the Lord Mountbatten/Kincora scandal was brushed aside [[A VOICE FOR THE LOST BOYS SILENCED BY STATE SANCTIONED ABUSE. – Covert History Ireland & UK Magazine]. In fact there are clear parallels between Kincora and the Epstein scandal.

The pattern is the same. Britain is a country where the secrets of the powerful are safe.

One of the BBC’s many Royal Correspondents, Sean Coughlan, explained that: “The announcement that Prince Andrew would lose his remaining titles had been intended to draw a line under what a royal source had called the “constant parade of headlines” about him, which had taken attention away from other royals.”

His tweet framed the problem as being ‘Days of pain’ for the beleaguered Prince, with scant regard for Epstein or Andrews victims.

The UK government has locked up files on Kincora until 2065 and 2085. Peter Mandelson is reputedly still on his £174,000 Ambassadorial salary.

But the feeling that these are the end days for Britain looms large. You can only suppress so many lies and corruption before it comes bubbling to the surface. The Epstein scandal threatens to destabilise the entire British monarchy.

The whole monarchy thing is a disgrace , a shambolic history of abusing privilege when they are simply flesh and blood like any of us , not special , not chosen by God ,just people , the monarchy needs to end and this may well be the undoing of it

  2. Maisie says:

They must be fighting for a continuation of their murky disgraced existence . Charles and William have financial dealings which bring them into disrepute …..Their sticky fingers on proposed parliamentary legislation requires full revelation.

Andrew may well dishonour them all but not by enough to see them gone. They have far too much to lose and far too much they don’t want revealed. The British establishment back them as it too is a murky corrupt institution.

  3. Alasdair Macdonald says:

Is a Parliament presided over by arse-licking snob, SIR Lindsay Hoyle, going to be allowed to discuss this? Is a Government led by super patriot, gift taking, son of a toolmaker SIR Keir Starmer going to allow its MPs a free vote? Are Labour in Scotland under the influence of nuclear supporting DAME Jackie Baillie and people like LADY Helen lid-DELL, LORD Robertson, serial imbiber LORD Ffor-foulkes, LADY Margaret Curran, etc likely to side with the hoi-polloi? It might give the rabble ideas above their station.

The ruling classes have always had the ability to be ruthlessly and unsentimentally brutal with individual members of their class who ‘have let the side down’. So, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife and cohabitee could be sacrificed. As could Peter Mandelson.

However, the principal villain, President Donald J Trump, will lie, bully and cheat his way out.

It is not just the UK that might fall apart, the US could do, too.

It’s getting hotter every day. What a disgraceful mob.

  5. Hector says:

So many more truths yet to surface.
