    No surprise there then!

Sir Keir Starmer said something like “MI6 intelligence is amongst the best in the world and we enjoy a close (special?) relationship with our US counterparts. ”
Yet… they weren’t able to check Mandelson’s past?

It’s as unbelievable as the Met taking any meaningful action (though worth a try I suppose).

Ooer! This morning BBC radio interview with a female legislator, stinted words and protracted opinion, typical of a Westminster survivor, sounding like YES minister.
On mandellson, what to do, question from BBC mouthpiece stenographer.
Legislator, we are breaking new ground, when it comes to removing lords titles or defrocking same said fraudsters, criminals , abusers , sex pests, thieves and carpet baggers , insider trading .
Mouthpiece stenographer, well! There’s a lot of them.
    My goodness who knew?
As if it is common knowledge .
It seems , to the legislator, it hasn’t been brought up before, so new ground, and it has to be looked at them legislated for, ( that is to remove the titles and defrock ,no mention of prosecution
Or such like, after all, any inference of dishonesty , fraud , corruption , sex pestiness , carpet bagging, insider trading , would undermine the very institutions of power and totaucracy.
Let’s face it , from politicians to lords and revolving door , is just the tip of the iceberg , when it comes to political corruption .
The discussion then shows up the , corruption right across the parliamentary privilege and protection , the circling the wagons , the tiers and levels of protection put in place , are in place , to protect the privileged. So called , they then go down the route of smoke and mirrors of deflection, everything needs to be reformed , when in fact nothing changes .
If it is seen , collusion with foreign agents , and the like , we haven’t come to far from Profumo and their ilk

Various commentators have stated that there is still a large number of documents from Epstein files have not been released and that these may have the most damning ever.
Backing this up is the fact that very few of the 302 documents (victim interviews) have been released despite victims wishing them to be made public.
Never forget that Trump’s DOJ indicated that no more documents would be released and Trump also said that some documents shouldn’t be released because they would be too damaging.
On top of all of that there seems to be mounting evidence that Epstein was being financed by Putin.

In terms of social psychology, what is normalised for an in-group is often in exaggerated contrast to the perceived norms of an out-group (oligarchs versus masses, say). Hypocrisy manifests in public morality, private vice. Cant in the pious public statements and charity works. The psychology of sexual exploitation entangles with political psychology. There must be poor, desperate, vulnerable, deluded or recklessly ambitious people whose voices can be suppressed, silenced, bought off, ignored or mocked. How can you feel like a winner unless you perceive many losers?

Analysis of patterns of interaction are significant, as the inferences from these email chains show. We can see graded and stereotyping views of correspondents and others, some modelling of vulnerabilities and pressure points, some unhealthy forms of collaboration, attempts at manipulation and self-justification towards others. Some talk of peace whilst words wage war.

We should assume much worse goes on, in widespread and pernicious ways, yet this behaviour is still seen as something to be hidden from the general public, a glimmer of light in the darkness.

Since the New Year, Bella has done some decent editorial work (I think) of not just linking these diseased aspects of our societies but presenting them as systemic and guided corruptions. Where I think more can be done is in showing how rulers (corporations, religions etc) attempt to get away with it. As I’ve said before, integration is the hard task (building a coherent world view), not information overload (we see this in every — often redacted — data dump). Some very interesting and politically significant remarks by literacy expert and advocate Keisha Siriboe in The Stream: Are we in a literacy crisis? https://www.aljazeera.com/video/the-stream/2026/2/3/are-we-in-a-literacy-crisis
Who benefits if the public largely cannot put together a mental model of their own polity? And what has literacy got to do with this?
