Cuban Honour, Newscum and Comedy Cancer

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, descends further every day, and there is no bottom.

Here he is calling Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, “The President of the United States” while going on to say that “Gavin Newscum admitted that he has learning disabilities” as the press and entourage stand in cowed silence. For background, this is about Newsom talking about having overcome dyslexia:

Here he is laughing at a man’s terminal cancer diagnosis:

Here he is threatening Cuba:

Twice Trump claimed to reporters that he had recently spoken to a former president who praised his actions in Iran, saying: “I wish I did what you did.”

Aides to all four living presidents, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, have issued statements, saying there is no record of any communications between them and President Trump.

As Swedish writer Martin Gelin notes (“Trump is aiming for a dictatorship“):

“The US is no longer a democracy. One of the most credible global sources on the health of democratic nations now says this outright. The Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute at Gothenburg University reaches the alarming conclusion in its annual report, that the US is hurtling towards autocracy at a faster rate than Hungary and Turkey.”

“For Orbán in Hungary, it took about four years, for Vučić in Serbia, it took eight years, and for Erdoğan in Turkey and Modi in India, it took about 10 years to accomplish the suppression of democratic institutions that Trump has achieved in only one year,” says Staffan Lindberg, founder of the V-Dem institute.

But if Trumps drags the US into outright dictatorship it will be one of Epic Stupidity rather than Epic Fury. The sycophancy, the press silence, the capitulation of the ‘mainstream’, the mythology about ‘guardrails’ and the hopeless liberal politics that paved the way for all of this, all are to blame. As Trump craters towards the midterms this built-in acquiesecence becomes more dangerous.

Strangely, or not, this litany of epic moral failure has religious support. As the promised Death and Destuction from the Sky rains down, Sarah Kendzior points out that (No World Order):

“Several high-ranking US officials have proclaimed themselves chosen for office by God instead by US voters. Though of varied faiths, they all believe their duty is to serve Israel. They serve Israel at the expense of the American people: both their tax money and their peace of mind.”

“Among them are Mike Johnson, who said his state visit to Israel was the fulfillment of a biblical prophecy; Chuck Schumer, who told the New Yorker he was placed in the Senate by God to protect Israel; former Trump Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who based foreign policy around the Rapture; and of course, Trump, who said that Israeli Jews view him as “The King of Israel” and “the second coming of God.”

Drain. The. Swamp.

All I can do is say thank you for this. I truly believe that most people–including most who live in this country–do not realize the extremity and concomitant peril this man and his coterie of neofascists bring to us, and through our violent projections of power, the entire world. Ed Sanders has a graphic comment at Counterpunch today that is apt, and I think forms a sort of bookend to your own piece: https://www.counterpunch.org/2026/03/17/is-the-trumpster-losing-it-a-glyph/ .

Just think how shit the games based on these cowardly and valo[u]r-less mass-murders will be. Raid Over Minab, anyone?

Of course, the likes of Modi might have been considering the fate of one of his predecessors. Billionaire bunkers might as well be lush tombs.

This demonstrates the hollow void where Christian ethics is purported to be, and if anyone needed a reminder of the genocidal racism at the heart of Judaism, there it is, hand-in-hand. To be fair, each religion has its dissenters, but they often pull their punches compared to the kind of iron secularism that perhaps we need (and biocracy that we definitely need). Anyone for disestablishmentarianism?
