A Room with a View – well. not really, but … The Writer’s Room, a paid desk residency designed by Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature and generously hosted by The Writer’s Museum, is now open to applications from published women writers. This opportunity will provide two writers with a two-month residency each, and a £1000 stipend, offering access to a desk in the heart of The Writers’ Museum’s famed collection. This years Counterflows festival has sort of snuck up on us, but here we are, operating out of Woodside Halls and a handful of other venues: “Over the 4 days of the festival there will be live performances, club nights, film screenings, a small publishers fair and discussions. Nae headliners, nae scheduling clashes, nae nonsense. We’re a festival about bringing people together, listening together, dancing together, and opening up possibilities.”

Counterflows On Paper 2026 features new writing by Lola Olufemi, Nisha Ramayya, dundee radio club, Masa Nazzal, Lewis Cook (GLOSS) and Eoin Anderson, alongside a special Beijing-Scotland underground music ‘Shortwave Q&A’, Fielding interviewing Ryu Hankil, poetry from Music Space resident Gem Kinley, and a series of artworks by artists from Project Ability.
