Israel is now in violation of their Ceasefire Agreement
Israel is now in full violation of their signature on the Ceasefire Agreement they signed by refusing to move, as they had committed to do, to the 2nd Phase – the withdraw of the IDF from Gaza – and by cutting off electricity to the region. But protests in Scotland and across the UK are escalating, as are fundraising for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
As Palestine Action extends its protests to highlight solidarity with the Palestinian people, reports from the only remaining operating desalination plant in Gaza, which was providing clean drinking water to 500,000 people show that Israel has now cut the electricity supply to the plant, reducing the amount of water it can produce by almost 90%. Israel’s siege on Gaza, the blocking of essential aid and the cutting off of electricity are textbook acts of genocide, designed to systematically starve 2 million people.

As former First Minister Humza Yousaf has said: “Collective punishment is what happens when the international community chooses impunity over accountability. There will be some – very muted – words of condemnation that will fall on deaf ears. When will the world say enough is enough and finally impose sanctions on Israel?”
The hypocrisy between two different war zones is stark. As Yanis Varoufakis has said:
“It is almost amusing to see how the established, though fading, Western media are struggling to cover up Israel’s never-ending war crimes. Here is the latest: Israel is now in violation of their signature on the Ceasefire Agreement they signed by refusing to move, as they had committed to do, to the 2nd Phase – the withdraw of the IDF from Gaza – and, in the process, are working toward the return of war by denying the Palestinians a basic human right (electricity) of a people caught in a territory that, according to International Law, Israel is fully responsible. And the shameless media portrays this as “putting pressure on Hamas”. When Putin cuts off Ukraine’s electricity to civilians, the same media do not talk of Russia “putting pressure” – they lambast Putin for committing a war crime. Is it not astonishing that the West still refuses to grasp the manner in which its double standards are destroying every morsel of soft power the West still has worldwide?”
If our politicians are complicit, protest by ordinary people is escalating in response to the horrors in Gaza. At the weekend protestors wrecked Trump’s golf course at Turnberry. “GAZA IS NOT FOR SALE” was sprayed across the lawn and the golf course’s holes were dug up. Whilst Trump attempts to treat Gaza as his property, he should know his own property is within easy reach.

In the Thirties, the world stood back and went for appeasement. The ultimate result, the Holocaust. Today we have the IDF acting like the Waffen SS killing women and children with impunity and the world stands back and again indulges in appeasement.
Hamas is categorised as a terrorist organisation and supporting states as terrorist states. Given the facts of Israel’s actions, the IDF is no less of a terrorist organisation and Israel a terrorist state. Gaza has long been a concentration camp and the current destruction and starvation no less equivalent to the gas chambers. The rest of humanity really needs to push for sanctions and attempt to en this continuing genocide
