Simon Murray retired recently from teaching theatre and performance practices at the University of Glasgow. Originally a sociologist by trade, he has worked in adult and trade union education for the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) in Ayrshire, Glasgow and on Tyneside, has been a professional actor and physical theatre maker and taught theatre studies in various universities. He has published on an eclectic range of subjects including mime and physical theatres, Jacques Lecoq, Philippe Gaulier, Monika Pagneux, performances in ruins, collaboration, lightness, WG Sebald, his suffragette grandmother, and the Seychelles National Youth Service (NYS). He has been visiting Coigach and Achiltibuie for almost 50 years.
