The Scottish Football Association have appointed Lord William Nimmo Smith to chair their inquiry into recent activities at Rangers.
Here one well-informed caller nails it about problems with Campbell Ogilvie, Martin Bain and Rangers...the professional journalists listen closely as they have little to say…
Clearly, the problem is not all about Craig Whyte as being portrayed by the mainstream media. The problem is about governance of the whole game, and a wholly compliant media. Despite wall to wall coverage, most football journos are ’embedded’ in club lounges. The problem will come not when the Nimmo report is published but if the SFA and SPL connive to carry on ‘business as usual’ – in which case we should expect (and hope for) a full-scale revolt by the rest of Scottish football.
I listened to the show on Saturday and listened with interest to the call you have linked, and what was obvious was the silence of Traynor and English. They knew what the caller was saying was right and know the implications.
As you point out whilst important, the Craig Whyte Rangers thing is a side issue, and what is apparent to me is that the link between the SPL SFA and the clubs involved often involved the same person, meaning whilst working for the club and then for the Associations they knew what was going on and were negligent and complicit. It has been pointed out on the RTC site that what we think is the big story has more to reveal than has so far, and I’m guessing this is it.
