Saffron for Yes!

“We don’t want supremacy, we want equality!” This is why 16 Year olds get the Vote. This is brilliant.

“We won’t be silenced by your ideology!”

  1. Lisa Peebles says:

She was fantastic! But I am biased because she’s my daughter!

    1. archie says:

I had to apologise to my downstairs neighbours because I was jumping up and down, whoopin and hollerin when I heard Saffron’s contribution. I wish her well.

    2. Lucy says:

What an absolute legend – Saffron should get involved with the Radical Independence Campaign!

      1. I found this debate far too highly emotional, and far too short on facts.

And both sides are guilty of that. I still have no idea which way I’ll vote… why can’t we just vote for devo max?

        1. bellacaledonia says:

Because despite the fact that all of the Unionist parties claim to be pro Devo Max, none of them came forward with a proposal to allow people to vote on that, probably because they knew it would be widely supported.

    3. David Grant says:

Well done, then. She spoke very well.

  2. This young lady has just restored my faith in our youth. A total credit to her parents!

    Well done pal!

  3. Ian Vallely says:

    @Lisa
She was fantastic! You must be very proud.

  4. Keef says:

And a very articulate and positive minded daughter you have too. Well said Saffron. Wish there were more like you.

  5. Macart says:

    An outstanding young lady.

    What an absolute joy. 🙂

  6. You must be so proud of her. Younpeople are our future and with young people like Saffron how dare anyone say that we couldn’t make a success of running our country

  7. Kate Irvine says:

Well done hen, future MP in the making. Very proud to hear a young Scottish person putting across her beliefs so passionately & eloquently.

  8. Dmyers says:

What an amazing contribution. I found the first girl’s argument to be quite depressing, but what a ray of sunshine Saffron was. I hope she realises just how powerful her words were.

  9. Well done that lass, the “don’t fix what ‘aint broke” is the philosophy of the stagnant and those that wont advance.I want my country to advance and not wait till its broken down and needs replaced.

  10. Ken MacColl says:

Empire biscuits used to be called German biscuits and are known as Belgian biscuits in some cafes in Edinburgh. Nothing is static. The best ones have cherries rather than jube-jubes on top.(IMHO)
Well said Saffron!. There are no certainties in this life but Carpe Deum -seize the day!

  11. Ken MacColl says:

    Carpe diem maybe?

  12. Taranaich says:

But… But… the wee jelly tot’s the best part of the empire biscuit!

  13. sunhoney90 says:

Saffron sums up the whole “we just don’t know what will happen” argument superbly. The tide is turning and I am so proud of the young people in Scotland. We can make a better future.

  14. creigs1707repeal says:

Well done, Saffron. You are a credit to your parents, a beacon to your peers and an inspiration to us all.

  15. Andrew Morton says:

I want her on a poster with her words underneath and I want it Now!

  16. Daisy says:

A powerful, clear statement from an admirable young lassie. What hope she holds in her heart & head, well articulated. May I offer an old Mexican saying to ponder perhaps:

“Remember, the Devil is wise because he is old, not because he is the Devil.”

    #1year2Yes

    Daisy

  17. wanvote says:

Just brilliant, Saffron ! Cheered me up no end.

  18. What a contrast. What an encapsulation of the whole idea. That excerpt was like the two campaigns in microcosm. And Andrew Morton’s right, we need Saffron’s words on a poster. Fantastic.

    1. keef22 says:

Well done on your summary Major. I hope you enjoy your time oot at the march. I’ll be thinking of you all down here in Australia. Hope the ‘throng’ gets up to 60,000 plus. Regardless of what media coverage it gets, the feel good factor it will generate will be priceless.

  19. Jeannie says:

Well said, Saffron. You just demonstrated what will win this referendum – the triumph of your hope over the other girl’s fear. Hope over fear will win the day. Good on you, kid!

  20. B McGhee says:

Reminds me of a young William Hague.

  21. Have to say,she restored my faith in the fact that the 16 yr olds are being given the vote. Well done that lassie.

  22. Stephen Rankine says:

Devo Max? So you’d actually be happy with your foreign policy and military being decided by Westminster? So we could go to war illegally (again) against the wishes of the Scottish public and subsequently have money taken away from our budget to pay for it?

Not to mention sending our troops on a fool’s errand?

Oh and you’d also be happy with the UK selling weapons to middle eastern countries? You’d be happy having no say over how our exports are promoted internationally?

    Devo Max LOL

  23. Wullie says:

    I’m just wild about Saffron!”
