Caroline Criado-Perez

Bella is delighted to welcome Caroline Criado-Perez to Edinburgh on Wed 20th August in a public discussion about the role of media and democracy. In a session called ‘Power and Print. Misrepresenting Women in the Media, Onslaught and Fightback‘ she will discuss these issues with renowned author Margie Orford, Vice-President of South African PEN.

The session is from 1.00-2.30 on 20th August at the Saltire Society off the High Street.

Last year, Caroline Criado-Perez campaigned to have a woman on British banknotes – and won. She then faced vicious online abuse and threats. In 1985 Margie Orford was detained by the South African police and charged with treason. She went on to become an award-winning journalist and internationally acclaimed writer, whose novels have been translated into nine languages.

A PUBLIC PRESS: reclaiming the media is a public seminar on problems and solutions in the media, organised by Bella Caledonia and Scottish PEN.
Wednesday 20th August 1.00 pm – 6.30 pm at the Saltire Society, Fountain Close, 22 High Street, Edinburgh
