Jim Murphy, Saviour of the Union

If it’s all got a bit serious for you, try out this old classic, easily the best satire to have come out of the indyref …

  1. Doreen Milne says:

Loved it then, still love it.

  2. Alan Clayton says:

    hilarious

  3. Lesley Docksey says:

One of my favourites. One of the best take-offs of the solemn BBC documentary, including the Neil Oliver look-alike popping up from behind bits of ruin. I still laugh out loud and share it with friends.

  4. Calgacus MacAndrews says:

This will always be Neil Oliver’s best work.

  5. Onwards says:

Brilliant. A cry of PISH rang out above the crowd.

  6. Sonny Crocket says:

    Thiocfaidh ar la! 😉

  7. David I says:

Sadly what was both witty and funny then , is no longer so .Is it that I’ve lost my sense of humour ? I think not , While most saw through the likes of Murphy and his ilk, they left a darkness that can’t be forgiven.
Or in the alternative, maybe I’m just having a moodie,? Nope it’s not that

  8. Mathew says:

Cheered me up. Goya, Bosch and Caravaggio in there too!

    1. c rober says:

      and of course Barr.

  9. Drew Campbell says:

    Did this really happen?

  10. Alba Woman says:

This cheered me up so much back then. It still does. Fab talent all round. Many thanks for the really good laugh.

  11. Dean MacKinnon-Thomson says:

This video does illuminate the frenzied abusive thinking of diehard cybernats.

It disrespects 55% of Scots as ‘the old, the weak and the gullible’.

Calling the majority of Scots those things hardly makes us more likely to vote ‘aye’ to separation in any future referendum.

    1. Bert Logan says:

This video has got a torch.

It disrespects those who don’t get it. Maybe one day eh?

Calling the now minority of Scots these things seems to still have convinced enough to see the light.

You missed the wit in it?

It disprespects no-one except Jim Murphy, who may be your hero, but exited Eastwood shortly thereafter.

I accept that there are old lags like you that just lurve the Queen and David (ps) Cameron. (do you really want to know what ps stands for?)

Comedy, like that, is more likely to persuade people away from your Puritanical views than t’opposite.

Suck it up Dean, your lot couldn’t do that if you tried.

  12. Jocknbex says:

Compulsory viewing for folk thinking there could be a future for Labour in Scotland – not for a while, not until after Independence I think. And even that might be too soon.

  13. Iona says:

I had forgotten how good that was

  14. douglas clark says:

That is not just good, it is genius. have they done anything else?

    1. Yes and Bella is planning to collaborate with them

  15. deargreenplace8 says:

Murphy is ah Coont and always will be

  16. DR Cameron says:

An enduring piece of work . Thanks again for the replay.

  17. Lisa Smith says:

    Side splitting satire!….pure Gold

  18. charlesobrien says:

Just brilliant let it loose again.

  19. Wul says:

Ach, I’d forgotten all about Murphy.

Now he’s back, saving Scottish Jews from persecution by his own Labour party.

Surely even those who agree with Murphy’s view on Scottish independence and other matters can see that he is a desperate, self seeking wannabe? It’s leaping out him.

  20. Indyman says:

“The puppeteers, skilfully manoeuvring the slavering beast” – best summary of Brown I’ve seen in ages. Best photoshoppery too.
