  1. Darby O'Gill says:

‘IdeaSpace is an exhibition of Scotland’s most innovative and exciting social, economic, cultural and environmental thinking’. No its not.

    1. Thanks for such a positive contribution

      1. Alf Baird says:

I think Darby has a point. For example, not much there on trade (i.e. economic growth depends on trade growth) or on culture (e.g. language and its influence on the wey Scots fowk thocht an dae hings, like vote!). You did say the event covers economic and cultural thinking?

  2. Jac Gallacher says:

Brilliant that this is free, do we still need to book or just turn up?

  3. Jesse James says:

Aye that struck me also. If I were you I’d skip it and head straight for the actual SNP conference where folk are actually doing stuff. The fringe Indy Yes folk are just a bunch of middle class bores who are using the movement for their own careers. All they do is ‘discuss’ things that have been discussed to death.

Land reform, housing – what is there possibly more to say that hasn’t been said by a thousand other think tanks, economists, academics and politicians?

A national investment bank – pretty much the policy of every social dem party in Europe for the last ten years – it was in Miliband’s manifesto

    and on…

    1. Alf Baird says:

“head straight for the actual SNP conference where folk are actually doing stuff”

Dinna tell me the 56 “roaring lions” have finally discovered the party’s raison detre and are aboot tae dae the honorable hing!

      1. Mungo says:

Forgive me Alf but I have read your comments here and on other sites for ages now, and all you seem to do is critisise the SNP and their lack of, in your mind, action. You seem to forget that it’s the SNP who have got us where we are, they’ve won 3 consecutive Scottish General Elections and wiped out Labour on the way. They have delivered one Referendum so far, with support increasing for independence to within touching distance of victory!
I think you should try and be a little more patient and have faith that they will complete the job soon instead of sniping about stuff that quite frankly is pretty small beer !

        1. Alf Baird says:

Mungo, I think we are in trouble when folk cease to question our politicians actions, or rather inaction as in this case. Soonds a wee bit like N. Korea, naw?

          1. Mungo says:

Hardly ! It’s about seeing the bigger picture ! It’s about focus ! Once we gain our independence there will be plenty opertunity to debate the detail of what our new Scotland should look like . The SNP are doing ok, sure we might not agree on every detail but they can hardly be compared to North Korea ?

          2. Alf Baird says:

I see now that Kenny MacAskill is free from cabinet to speak his mind, the cat is finally comin oot the bag: http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/14792579.Nicola_Sturgeon_has_shown__more_timidity_than_radicalism___says_Kenny_MacAskill/

Independence is in itself radical, however a timid leadership wallowing uncomfortably in the political centre trying to pacify 5-10% of middle class ‘No’ voters and a biased msm is merely peeing off many in the 45%. They need to change tack, up the ante, and stop being so nice. We didn’t put them there merely to be ‘competent’, they are there to get our country back.

  4. Donnie MacLachlan says:

Excellent imitative, I’d add setting up and maintaining a university think tank charged with research into policies in an independent Scotland.

If brexit has taught us one thing, you need a plan in place for large constitutional changes.

    Best wishes for IdeaSpace!

    1. Alf Baird says:

You are perhaps unaware that Scottish uni’s, like most major public institutions in Scotland, are led by a unionist administrative elite.

And on the contrary, “If brexit has taught us one thing” it is surely that we do not need any “plan in place for large constitutional changes”.

      1. Mungo says:

Solution, get out the union !

        1. Alf Baird says:

          “get out the union”

The 56 can dae thon ony time thay like.
