Welcome to The Howff

howff /haʊf/. A favourite meeting place or haunt, especially a pub.

Welcome to The Howff, Bella’s lounge for the lockdown. We’ll be introducing some live events soon but at the moment we’re releasing a batch of stuff for you every night. Please share, feedback and contribute. Expect a complete jumble of genres, and we’ll just hope there’s something in here you’ll enjoy.

Tonight we have episode 8 of Groove On, Bella’s radio show for the virus time, brought to you by Stewart Bremner. This is an hour and a half of tunes brought to you every day. You can listen to the whole back catalogue here.

Our first featured artist is Iona Fyffe, with other music from Chemikal Underground’s Holy Mountain and an Optimo playlist of On U Sound. We have a new film from Angus Farquhar’s new arts charity Aproxima, poetry from Jim Monaghan and a Creative Tool kit to “share ways of being creative for those who find themselves in isolation” from Alec Finlay.

Let us know if you’re doing a show online that we can help with. If you want to punt your Patreon or Ko-Fi or your YouTube channel, get in touch and we’ll list it here. If you’re doing a live event we will help promote it or host it. We’ll also be doing virtual book launches, reviews and readings, interviews and other stuff.

Hope you’re well and coping. Please enjoy and share!

I recorded from Jack London’s apposite apocalyptic The Scarlet Plague last Monday and Inga Tillere of Band of Holy Joy made a soundscape for it. It went out on Resonance FM on Friday night. It’s up on Mixcloud here- https://www.mixcloud.com/Resonance/bad-punk-27th-march-2020-default_scarlet-plague/?play=fb I’d be very chuffed if you want to share it.

    Hi Bella Caledonia,

We’re writing to you from Brisbane, Australia. Our group is heavily influenced by the music of the British Isles, and our plans to tour to those parts of the world this year are sadly at an end for now. We released this song from our most recent show, A Net of Souls to our followers on social. Maybe it will interest you! http://www.theboxties.com/videos
