Under Attack

For months now this site has been under a Denial of Service attack (DoS)*.

We’ve been protecting ourselves with CloudFlare, but have now moved to a dedicated enhanced server to allow us to block these attacks and continue publishing.

Our technical support company (a small independent company based in Edinburgh) have been really great and we are very grateful for their help.

We have no idea who is behind these attacks or what their intention is, if any. We don’t know if it’s political or just random.

Anyway, it’s costing us hundreds of pounds to make this move and increased monthly fees to maintain.

We operate on a very tight budget so if anyone wants to help out with a donation at this time that would be a great help. I know everyone’s skint so any help much appreciated.

* In computing, a denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) is a cyber-attack in which the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users by temporarily or indefinitely disrupting services of a host connected to a network. Denial of service is typically accomplished by flooding the targeted machine or resource with superfluous requests in an attempt to overload systems and prevent some or all legitimate requests from being fulfilled.

In a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack), the incoming traffic flooding the victim originates from many different sources. More sophisticated strategies are required to mitigate against this type of attack, as simply attempting to block a single source is insufficient because there are multiple sources.

A DoS or DDoS attack is analogous to a group of people crowding the entry door of a shop, making it hard for legitimate customers to enter, thus disrupting trade.

Criminal perpetrators of DoS attacks often target sites or services hosted on high-profile web servers such as banks or credit card payment gateways. Revenge, blackmail and activism can motivate these attacks.

Actually Mike Small , The attempted shut down of independence information by the English financed unionists back fired. As an ALBA member ( ex-new S.N.P.) I knew nothing of Bella Caledonia until I read about the interference in a newspaper.
I will be contributing to Bella Caledonia in the future.
The independence STALL by the ‘new’ S.N.P. over the last 8 years directed by the Murrells must be stopped.

All I have to say at the moment is that the FM Sturgeon has deliberately created doubt, fear and confusion by her constant begging to Westminster and the English Supreme to hold a referendum which we do not need. The new S.N.P. were voted in last year to give us independence but the useless, weak FM turned that into an English approved referendum. NO SOVEREIGN COUNTRY SUCH AS SCOTLAND NEEDS PERMISSION FROM ANY FOREIGN COUNTRY SUCH AS ENGLAND.

    1. Fred says:

You are being very naive, & are espousing tactics that are doomed to failure.

The single most important requirement for a nation to become independent is international recognition of that declaration. Without this it is meaningless.

This is much easier to achieve if the process followed to lead to that declaration is legal within the framework of that nation. Many nations would simply reject anything otherwise, & there are countless examples of this in modern history.

Furthermore, if we do seek to go down the UDI route later on then having exhausted all other routes is pretty much a prerequisite for this same international recognition.

Finally, should we come to a vote where UDI is the proposal, e.g. a general election, having exhausted all other routes will increase the vote share for yes by both removing the media attack angle of it being potentially “illegal” or improper, and by wrecking the concept of a “willing union”.

        Absolutely Fred.

      2. David Grainger says:

Your post is that of Ms. Sturgeon’s words which are totally inaccurate. Scotland is a laughing stock internationally as Ms. Sturgeon is well known for her continual begging to Boris Johnson for permission to hold Indy 2, and now the English supreme court, which such permission is not required. This begging was started by Ms. Sturgeon and duped Scots into thinking that Scotland must follow an English law which doesn’t even exist . The FM has never stated that Scotland is a SOVEREIGN country implying that we are just an English colony. We are a SOVEREIGN Country and all the Holyrood Gov’t has to do is DECLARE INDEPENDENCE.

The ‘new’ SNP were voted in with a majority to do just that last year. The FM duped we Scots again by saying it was a referendum but didn’t hold one as she immediately started begging Boris for permission. Even Barbados DECLARED independence from England earlier this year.
Ms. Sturgeon has never declared that she wants independence !!! She says it up to the people of Scotland and then finds every excuse since 2014 to avoid our voices.
Scotland will never be independent under the Murrells simply because they have no intention of getting it.
Have you ever tried to contact F.M. Sturgeon ? You should try. Also why not try doing your own research about Scotland’s economy and culture.

      3. Robert Caldwell says:

Took me a while, to grasp the intention of the FM, but you nailed it on the head… nice comment

      Did ye, aye?

  9. Squigglypen says:

You are obviously a threat Mr Small. I didn’t realise that..excellent …I have donated to help you be a threat. ..and now will increase it since you are a thorn in their side..want that thorn to be a spear.
I believe we will have to do more than be seen internationally as independent. I don’t give a bugger who recognises us but when
you face up to the excrement south of us you do what you need to do.( as they will)..
    One more time..UDI.

Keep up the excellent work. We’re all here. You only have to shout.

Made a donation. Need to keep the “rational” pro-Indy sites up and running.

  11. Meg+Macleod says:

any publiction which allows free speech and a narrative different to the global rhetoric of the people pulling the strings is coming under scrutiny..till we have nothing left that represents an alternative viewpoint.. a destruction of our democracy is taking place before our eyes and ears.

Donation made. keep up the good work.

  13. John Wood says:

    Keep up the good work!

  14. David Grainger says:

The key to a very easy YES win is true information of the Scottish economy and achievements. Since 1707 the English aristocrats through their Gov’t have buried anything that shows just how brilliant we Scots are. English history was gradually introduced as Scots history was phased out. Our educational system was controlled by England with the result that we were never taught our own history in school. We were taught to be humble and as the English class system was introduced by the ridiculing both of our languages, customs and etc. we were reduced to a colony of England which we still are. Scottish independence has always existed by Scots who know just how brilliant and how great a people we are.
Alex Salmond came along and exposed the our subjugation by standing up for Scotland as leader of the ‘OLD’ S.N.P. and took the YES vote to over 50%. Thanks to English promises and lies ( including that we would always be a part of the EU) 57% voted NO. All Scots owe Alex Salmond a huge debt for his work.
Our current position has never changed since 2014.

The YES vote is still around the same 50% over the last 8 years. NO information about just how rich Scotland is both economically and culturally has been delivered by the ‘new’ S.N.P. FM. Her programme of continually attacking the English Tory leader telling us how incompetent Boris is OVER and OVER again, which we all know, does absolutely NOTHING to get our independence in fact it is detrimental to gaining it as it deflects time away from independence. Time wasted over the last 8 years which SHOULD have been spent informing all Scots of how many resources we have making us ONE of the richest ( if not the richest) countries in the world.
Here is ONE piece of VERY IMPORTANT information that at least 50% of we Scots don’t know.

The FORTH wealthiest country in the world is the INDEPENDENT Eire or Southern Ireland if you prefer. Population 5 million approx. Scotland (population 5.6 million approx. ) has 80% more resources than Erie and we are among the poorest and getting poorer by the day.
Why is that fact not being told to the Scottish population by the ‘new’ SNP ? That’s what we should be hearing every day from the Scottish Gov’t. and MORE.
Why not phone your Holyrood MP or any SNP MP and ask them as to why they are following the English method of hiding this ?

I will make a donation tomorow 29/7 when I get my pension, if we don’t leave the madhouse soon the Isle of man becons. Best to all.
