The Map of Stories

As we reach the darkest point of the year who doesn’t need a story? This exceptional new project has just launched – it’s a collaboration between Transgressive North, Rectangle Design and TRACS. The website features 76 storytelling recordings (62 filmed recordings created by Transgressive North specially for the website, and 14 audio-only recordings selected from the Tobar an Dualchais collection).

The Map of Stories project is a brand new interactive, open-access website that opens up a magical gateway to Scotland’s diverse oral storytelling traditions, filmed and spoken in Scots, Gaelic and English.

What a trove! Navigate the map and find your stories here.

Here’s The Story of St Bride told by Martin McIntyre and then the story of The Loth Stane Diamond told by Tim Porteous.

  1. SleepingDog says:

The Story of Todd Lawrie told by Joanne Dowd reminds me of the human war on nature, the organised killing of designated ‘vermin’ species, that I have been reading about in Scotland and elsewhere. Really nice presentation, by the way.
