Support Indy Media in 2025 – Two Days Left to Support Bella Caledonia

We have just two days left to reach our crowdfunding target. I am immensely grateful to everyone who has supported us – especially given these very difficult times. We’ve raised an amazing £14,168 so far.

We’ve laid out what we need the money for * and we’ve tried to lay out our past record in supporting new writers, and our effort to counter propaganda and media bias in unprecedented times. And we do live in unprecedented times, where a Labour government are “preferring to place the burden of increased defence spending on the most vulnerable, whether at home, via Reeves’s cuts in benefits for disabled people and the poorest, or abroad, with the slashing of the aid budget“, and our former allies are kidnapping innocent people off the streets …

Rumeysa Ozturk’s “crime” was writing an op-ed that included an appeal for embracing “the equal dignity and humanity of all people.”

If we thought for a moment that we were somehow immune from such authoritarianism we could look at the incredible revelations about the behaviour of the British State by the Spycops inquiry, or witness the first time in living memory in the UK that the police have broken into a Quaker meeting house to arrest people meeting peacefully, or the disgraceful criminalisation of protest that has accelerated in recent years in Britain, with kettling, ‘pre crime ‘ arrests and draconian prison sentences for peaceful protestors becoming an everyday occurence.

You know all this.

The West Bank settler attack on the Oscar-winning director of “No Other Land” – as we covered here (‘The first 27 pages, the age is listed as 0‘) was “no isolated event.” Israeli settlers are now regularly attacking Palestinians to drive them from their homes and land, all as the Israeli army looks on. We have also brought you direct testimony from Palestine, from writers such as Abed Qusini (‘Palestinian Hospitals Call for Urgent Help’) as well as ongoing coverage of protest against Britain’s complicity in genocide (‘Palestine Action Scotland target Biffa Limited in Glasgow and Edinburgh’).

We will continue to do what few mainstream media outlets seem capable of, that is confront the realities of climate breakdown.

More than anything we will continue to champion Scottish independence, the failures of the Labour government and explore the attack on devolution, because, despite efforts to tell you otherwise, there IS an alternative.

We know we can improve our content, strengthening its impact, broadening its range and bringing in new writers and artists. That’s what we intend to do. We hope you will support us. Go here to donate, with many thanks:

* The funds will go towards improving and expanding our content, working with more writers and illustrators and doing more audio content (interviews and podcasts). Some of the money has to go to our ongoing hosting and tech support costs.

Is there any way to just send a BACS payment? Cut out the middleman?

      1. Wul says:

        Done. Thanks.

Will keep up the monthly sub, although it’s not much, I know. Now more than ever, we need independent media.

Thank you for all that Bella does.

          Hi Wul & Bella Caledonia

Your comment and sentiment I too hold and although I am in the lower socioeconomic bracket I am all the more wealthier with a Free Scottish press with their eye ️ on the ball. A monthly donation intuitively and decisively made.

          1. Thanks so much. It’s heartening and an insight that, apart from a few notable (and generous) exceptions almost all of the donations are for small sums of 10, 20, 30 £. Everyone’s skint. While I would love someone to make a big donation and help us out there’s also something in the fact that people are holding together. Thanks to all.

I would dearly love to remain a subscriber, as I have been for many years, but alas cannot access funds at this time due to a Sam on my Bank Accounts.

May I be allowed to postpone until I can again access my funds?

    1. Hi Keith – you are allowed to come back and support us whenever you can! I hope you get things sorted. Thanks for your support.
