The Hounding of Diane Abbott
The standard of discourse in British public life has descended into drivel. The appalling treatment of Diane Abbott, Westminster’s longest-serving female MP, who has been suspended from the Labour party for a second time after saying she did not regret her past remarks on racism, continues. Abbott suggested the racism experienced by black and brown people is different from the racism experienced by minorities whose differences usually aren’t visually identifiable. Not only is this self-evidently true, she is speaking from her lived experience.

Now we have the farce of wealthy tv presenter Robert Peston interjecting with his own white male victimhood:
Peston admits Diane didn’t say there’s a hierarchy of racism, but claims that was the “implication”. So her actual words don’t matter, only how Robert Peston chooses to interpret them. Now THAT is a hierarchy of racism. pic.twitter.com/jFSLWbXyJf
— Karl Hansen (@karl_fh) July 18, 2025
But because the entire public discourse is flooded with constant and ridiculous allegations of ‘antisemitism’ we are forced to take this seriously. We should not.
As Ash Sarkar responded: “According to Peston, saying that the experience of a black person of racism “is different, for example, from the racism that somebody like me who’s a Jew” implies “there’s a hierarchy of racism.” So in order to be good anti-racists and get a pat on the head, we all have to pretend that Robert Peston is just as likely to be stopped and searched by the police as a young black man.”
As Laura of Normal Island News has it [Sir Keir Starmer says “women of Diane Abbott’s colour should not be lecturing white men on racism”]: “Abbott has rightly been met with fierce criticism throughout her time in parliament for the crime of existing. Even worse than existing, Abbott has often put forward opinions based on her lived experiences. You can imagine how awkward this is for everyone in Labour who wants the Reform vote.”
“Finally, Starmer has an excuse to get rid of Abbott because she has doubled down on comments she had previously made that were factually correct. Factually fucking correct. Who the hell does this black woman think she is? A white man?”
This has history. Remember when Frank Hester said Diane Abbott made him hate all black women and she ought to be shot & the Tories kept his £ 10 million donation?
Into the Sewer – Bella Caledonia

Then, when it was being discussed in parliament, she was completely ignored.
Never forget that Diane Abbott (now the new mother of the house) stood up 46 times, and Lindsay Hoyle ignored her when everyone in the commons was talking about her. pic.twitter.com/vjIay49OXy

If Abbott’s appalling treatment, then and now, is testimony to the real racism that courses through British public life today, it is also testimony to the fact that the Starmer project is deeply threatened by the existence of even the few remnants of the Left who still exist in the Labour Party.
But ultimately it is a symbol of how far the public debate has been shaped, distorted and infected by the war on Gaza and the hysterical allegations of antisemitism that are routinely weaponised against anyone with a critical voice. We live in a bizarre world in which, as the investigative journalist Asa Winstanley has noted: “The ban on Palestine Action is swiftly becoming a ban on supporting Palestine” and where we see British Police officers saying holding a “Free Gaza” poster is a terrorism offence.
Finally, this whole fiasco plays out as the riots of Epping continue, and England is, once again, a tinderbox of highly triggered, highly curated fascist mobs. As Dezza tweets:
“I just want everyone to ask themselves if the race riots/attacks last summer would’ve been memory-holed by the media and political class the way they have been if Jewish people were being targeted rather than unassuming brown & Black people going about their business Rhetorical.”

We are going backwards. Since when has it been ok for white people to tell Black people what is racism? I read that Raynor was ‘disappointed’ in what Diane Abbot said about her lived experience. This is really retrograde stuff and threatens the basis of antiracism. For many years antiracists have accepted that people on the receiving end of racism must be taken seriously when reporting their experience. This is not to establish a hierarchy of racisms but to accept the validity of what people feel. Labour is exhibiting a very cloth-eared approach to man political matters, this is the latest.
The people of these islands have, by and large, shown generosity and openness toward newcomers. This spirit of hospitality reflects a long-standing tradition of tolerance and civic decency.
However, over the past 30 to 40 years, certain progressive ideologies have evolved into rigid orthodoxies. What began as movements for justice and inclusion now often resemble authoritarian belief systems, intolerant of dissent and blind to nuance.
Figures such as Diane Abbott, Dawn Butler, and Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, along with a host of professional activists, have built careers within this ecosystem. The rise of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) consultancies has further entrenched this industry—yet their impact has been questionable. Rather than fostering cohesion, many of these initiatives have proven divisive, ineffective, and at times, socially corrosive.
This phenomenon is largely unique to the West. In my experience working across numerous countries often referred to as the “global majority,” racism and other forms of exclusion are far more overt and systemic—yet rarely acknowledged with the same fervor or introspection.
The influence of neo-Marxist progressivism and critical race theory has extended beyond its original academic context, often alienating the very communities it claims to support. For many working-class citizens, each instance of perceived unfairness or exclusion is not just a grievance—it’s a provocation.
There is a growing sense that the establishment has waged a cultural and political war against the majority for too long. That majority is now beginning to push back. The narrative of perpetual victimhood has worn thin, and many are saying, “enough is enough.”
If we are to avoid widespread unrest, it is imperative to move away from race-baiting and ideological extremism—such as the politicisation of Islamophobia—and toward a more balanced, honest conversation about identity, fairness, and national cohesion.
The winds of change are blowing. Whether you welcome them or not, they are a consequence of choices made over decades. It’s time to acknowledge that—and take responsibility.
Is this Grok-speak? It has a certain ring of AI to it. Long live human people (of all kinds).
Yes it reads like that – not so fresh Atlantic whiff to it!
Indeed. What I thought soon as I read it. And we know how SteveH normally writes and it ain’t this.
Yes, you’re right. Well done! Not Grok though. I thought I’d see what all the fuss was about.
Whilst it’s essentially what I wrote, it actually it toned it down. My original draft would have had you jumping around like Frogs on speed.
The fact remains there is a DEI – racism and gender ID industry, playing on the gullibility and narcissism of the graduate and progressive classes.
The irony is that people like you have encouraged importing the racist, intolerant, violent cultures from the most dangerous parts of the world.
In a world where they dominate – you’d be the first to be enslaved, abused, persecuted, beheaded, thrown off buildings, etc.
I laugh when I see the image of the people with the banner saying: “queers for Palestine”. The Theocracy of Iran has the most enthusiastic gay conversion programme. It’s “surgery or execution”.
Back to Diane:
She may be your racism industry pin-up, but she, and all the other progressives are in fact regressive.
People like you have created division, a low-trust society, and turned one of the successful countries in the world into a basket case. Well done.
The UK (and the rest of Europe) can also be the corrupt, oppressive, scary Global Majority, sectarian dictatorship you’ve always worked for.
It won’t be the Neo-Marxist heaven you’ve dreamt of. We’d be lucky if we achieve what they currently have in Lebanon.
When was Britain “one of the most successful countries in the world” Stevie?
Also “”Dreaming of Neo Marxist Heaven” definitely has merch potential. I’ll give you 5%.
Wonderful.
White man bravely stands up alongside the resist-equality ideolgues of the billionaire class, and defiantly takes a stand against a woman of colour who endures a barrage racism. StevenH’s courage even extends to using all the buzz words of the American alt-right. If this isn’t Grok, it’s a fine imitation of the Grok AI bot.
Diane Abbott has received so much hate mail that at one stage half of all the tons of hate mail directed at 650 MPs was the hate sent to Diane. But all that smug Steve can do is to denounce the victim of hate, and think that he’s ever so clever. Wrong, Steve. You’re just a bully
Yes. I gave AI a go to check it out. It toned my original down
Diane has built a life long and prosperous career from race baiting. An otherwise unremarkable person achieving celebrity and destabilising our nation further.
I totally oppose sending her, abusive threatening communications. There is no excuse for it.
Its interesting but the same people who get angry at the abuse she gets, are the same people who abuse people whose views are different from them. I’ve been routinely called a “racist fascist c**t” and threatened. Although never in person. I wouldn’t use violence – unless they physically attacked me.
When they’ve faced me it’s heavily toned down, but none of them will debate me.
I offer formal settings like our local university, a pub or a club, etc. So secure in their opinions that they decline and run away.
People who have spoken out about the cover up of the rape gangs scandal, including brave victims have been subjected to abuse and threats. Not once on this site have I seen protests or objections to such things.
The UK and the rest of Europe will experience increasing civil unrest, and maybe even conflict.
It’s likely that your side will be chosen for you in the heat of an ethnic sectarian confrontation.
The signs are all there. Check out Dr David Betz’s (KCL) work.
@Nazi Steve: “I wouldn’t use violence – unless they physically attacked me.”
Worst. Mercenary. Ever.
How are your arthropods, by the way?
While I see you are a stout defender of the traditions of pirates and mercenaries,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matelotage
you seem confused about who was spreading the most punitive anti-gay laws around the world, which remain in force in many British Commonwealth countries today. Of course, in jurisdictions where the British colonisers were exempt from most of the laws they enforced on the colonised, this simply made the local populations more vulnerable to colonial predators, like outlawing prostitution by persecuting sex workers not clients.
And what is the Orthodox Jewish position? Their views of the place of women in society? I can see the attractions of Zionism for you.
Stevie – I know personally a victim from rape gang scandal. I can assure you that what members of the Victim Support Group want is perpetrators and those in authority who didn’t help them to face justice. They want to try and ensure that there is a full understanding of how this could happen and actions are put in place to ensure no future generations of young girls suffer in a similar manner. They also want help and support to help rebuild their lives including rescinding all criminal convictions for prostitution which they were forced into. What they do not want is keyboard culture warriors like yourself trying to stir up unrest and make political capital on the back of their suffering. These poor women have endured far too much already.
Another word salad sourced from darker sources of Internet by Stevie H.
I agree. I thought when she first made the point about different kinds of prejudice affecting different groups differently, it was perfectly reasonable and not racist in any sense. The points she made were valid and worth saying. I also thought something similar ages ago when ‘they’ went for Corbyn with all the fake antisemitism stuff (e.g. around the IHRC definition examples which were soon proven to be seriously problematic, just like he and few other in Labour said). Back then though of course the ‘they’ was most of the so-called progressives on the left (and obviously alongside all the usual right wing vultures and instigators). Some of them have now changed their tune after the latest atrocities in Gaza, The Guardian being the prime example. Too late in my book, the hypocrites.
One caveat: Abbot knew exactly what she was doing with this latest interview and I am not sure what her motivations are. It was bound to repeat the suspension / investigation so what is the point exactly? I admit I find her a little hard to trust.
I would also add that the conflation of antizionism with antisemitism has been utilised to label people critical of Israeli government as antisemitic. This is problematic for various reasons:
1)there are many Jewish people in UK who are not Zionist and certainly do not support Israeli government actions – are they then antisemitic?
2)the idea that by criticising the actions of Israel you are criticising all Jewish people can lead to some people thinking that if someone is Jewish it therefore follows that they support actions of Israel which in itself can lead to an increase in antisemitism.
Why do you make a point of the oppression and murder of Christians through countries where Islamism flourishes.
The deaths in Yemen, etc. are never covered.
I get called a NAZI, yet stand firm against antisemitism.
Israel is the only national home the Jews have. They are our front line against Islamist violent doctrine that wants to enslave all non-Muslims.
Antisemitism is the oldest form of racism there is. Hiding behind the Israeli State argument is a defection. Today, it’s about hating European culture too.
We all know the game. You’re kidding no one.
So in your opinion criticism of Israeli government’s actions makes me antisemitic. This means that many Jewish people worldwide who disapprove of Israel’s actions in Gaza are also antisemitic.
You also think that Israeli army levelling Gaza is protecting me from the hordes of Palestinians wanting to subjugate me. Funny how the Palestinians are, despite wishes of Netanyahu and Trump, refusing to move out of Gaza despite living in rubble and food camps. I suppose this is similar to the West Bank where Palestinians are being threatened and driven off their land but refuse to leave. Sorry but somehow I do notI feel my way of life is being threatened by Palestinians who refuse to leave their homeland. (I was going to write leave their homes but they have all been destroyed.
Unlike yourself Steve I don’t see things as politically or culturally black or white I judge them on there impact on humanity and nature. This means, that like most reasonable people, I can condemn actions of October 7th and IDF for their inhumane actions. The main difference is the scale of suffering that has occurred is disproportionate.
PS – am not following you down your own personal rabbit hole any further for the sake of my own mental health and it appears to be a very dark place.
Our front line? Have a word with yourself.
Hating European culture Lol.
Frank – it’s laughable Stevie H simultaneously goes on about how we need to protect European culture while extolling the virtues of Brexit and decrying EU.
I was going to say this was an oxymoron but in Stevie’s case the oxy is clearly superfluous!
I suppose ravening ideologues can justify anything if they put their mind to it and allow themselves to become so corrupted they lose all humanity. Hamas certainly do. And then Isreal in turn, and now you SteveH. and your fellow simpering, blathering apologists of atrocity.
I would suggest you turn away from the killing of nearly 60,000 by Israel including 17,000 thousand children in response to Hams slaughter of 1200 young people and the taking of 250 hostages, to avoid seeing that it is y’know, ‘disproportionate’, but there is no point is there? You are blind already and would justify killing a million.
Of course she knew what she was doing, she’ll soon be joining Jezza in his ‘pure’ socialist party (before it inevitably splits) and his allies in the soon to be formed Sectarian Islamic party who obviously wont be in the slighest anti-semitic, just don’t mention womens/gay rights though! What strange friends the modern day left have.
Sectarian Islamic Party – what is that?
The 4 muslim MP’s who were elected as independents on a pro-gaza ticket at the last election. They are in talks to align themselves with Jezzas new left wing party.
It is estimated at the next election Labour could lose upto 40 seats in constituencies with a majority Muslim electorate introducing a sectarian element to the UK political system.
Hope that explains
John – your last sentence betrays an enormous ignorance of UK politics and its history
Just open your eyes and look at politics in Northern Ireland. Any cursory knowledge of Scottish politics would make you understand that the anti catholic vote was strong in Scotland up until WW2.
Well maybe Labour should stop supporting Israel’s current mass slaughter of children then? Just a thought.
And what actually is a ‘pro-Gaza ticket’? Does defending Gazan’s right to live each day without fear of being killed by Israel wrong in some way, to be condemned, castigated and demonised like you do? Are all Gazan’s terrorists that deserve death John Learmouth, including all the kids?
And you and SteveH use you irrational hatred of anything left to justify the atrocities in Gaza and right now, in order to attack Abbot and Corbyn in a totally bogus and false way. I think very many would regard that as despicable bullshit. I certainly do.
This is all very simple. If Mrs Abbott was a fully paid up zionst (& thus by definition a racist) there would be no problem. She would fit perfectly into Starmer-I-am-a-zionst Labour party. But she isn’t & has a different view – which in Zionist Britain (a wholly owned oblast of apartheid Israel) is unacceptable.
“Black like me” is worth a read. White man, Late 1950s USA through some chemicals passes himself off as black for some months. & then writes about it. Eye opening.
All that said, one cannot ever compare oneself & ones troubles to Gods chosen ones. They are sacred and those that do should be expelled into the outer darkness, as doubltess Mrs Abbott soon will be.
Labour, a political off-shoot of the state of Israel. I am hopeful that Labour and its lackys will be excised from Wales & Scotland in next years elections. A vote for Labour is a vote for Zionism & apartheid.
Thank you Mike, s noted by you and others, it’s the patronising denial of Diane’s own lived experience over many years of public life that grates most in this matter. I have to say though that in revisiting this contention she isn’t showing much wisdom, because at the end of the day any mean and demeaning intolerance directed against anyone on the basis of their race, culture or religion is itself destructive. So debating racism against black people vs antisemitism is not very helpful or illuminating in my opinion, nor is it a point worth pursuing too far. Perhaps she is using this as a way of leaving the Labour party under Starmer without appearing to do so voluntarily. I think many posting here would agree that the Israeli/Zionist use of the horror of their ancestors during the Holocaust is the most disgusting and vile misuse of their suffering for the disguise and rationalisation of their own murderous behaviour, and as a stick to beat their critics . That the MSM go along with this blood stained slur is also reprehensible. But you can’t just blame the right, that any Labour member of conscience could have stayed loyal to Starmer as long as they have is also unpardonable. .
Starmer has no option. His wife is Jewish, may even be a zionist to boot.
Wow. I have issues with Diane Abbots’ latest silly hierachy of whatever but the comments on here is a pile of maladjusted hater’s drivel from anti-social misfits of the lower, and comfortably-off kind who probably get to tell other people how to think. I wish I hadn’t read them.
All comments must be interogated bt the Central Scrutiniser in case there is any Wrong Think. I mean fuck off. Nothing good ever progressed with that.
