Totally brilliant! Highly recommend watching this to help re-connect with sanity and decency in a mad, bad world…
Love yr site
Thanks Maureen!
I found this a fascinating watch as each of them had a different background and a slightly different journey to ultimately arrive at similar conclusions about Israel and Palestine.
Fantastic interview what kind intelligent funny people they are
Great discussion! Superb!
I think this humane discussion misses out the obvious biblical celebrations of genocide, and fails to ask why those would be tolerated in secular society. I don’t think this conversation quite captures the extreme sadism of settler colonialism and Zionism. You don’t rape ‘vermin’, you don’t joy in the persecution, enslavement and genocide of people who are just ‘in the way’, you don’t envisage yourselves as the Master Race or God’s Chosen People without identifying subordinate races or pseudo-demonic enemies. Nor does it offer a psychological or psychoanalytical model of these vile people who love doing such evils.
Nor of the fellow travellers. I’ve been rereading Kurt Vonnegut’s short novel Mother Night (we become what we pretend to be, very Aristotelian moral) about a romantic American writer in pre-WW2 becoming a top Nazi propagandist and Allied double agent. The question of doing too little good in a bad society yet living as if it were enough to secretly hate it.
