Bella Refresh and Relaunch
Sorry I’ve not been writing as much the last few weeks (you may be not!). I’ve been working on some behind the scenes work to sort out some mundane but important stuff, like fixing our Cloudflare problem and fixing our broken Subscription system. That is all fixed now with massive thanks to our new digital partner Connor Beaton. So here’s the lowdown on some changes and improvements that should make things much smoother for our readers.
All of this only made possible by the support of our readers (here).
As part of our digital refresh, we’re improving how Bella Caledonia keeps our readers updated by email.
A new weekly newsletter will now land in subscribers’ Inboxes every Monday morning, starting from tomorrow. With social media algorithms punishing independent media and making it harder for us to be heard, this weekly recap will play a key role in making sure you don’t miss any of our articles. We encourage you to forward the newsletter to your friends and colleagues too.

Meanwhile, we will continue to send email notifications every time we publish a new article, as we have done until now. Some of our subscribers may begin receiving these notifications for the first time. If you would prefer to receive only the weekly re-cap, you can, of course, opt-out of these more frequent notifications – though we know many of our readers appreciate them.
As with the earlier stages of our refresh, we are carefully considering how and where we spend the funds many of you generously donated to our crowdfunding campaign. We have moved away from US-owned email service MailChimp in favour of Lettermint, which is based entirely in Europe. This is keeping more of your money and data firmly on this side of the Atlantic and out of the hands of American tech billionaires, though this remains an ongoing process.
We greatly appreciate your feedback as we continue to make improvements for our readers.

I very much agree with the measures you are taking, because really appreciate your journalistic independence.
I am all for keeping money on this side of the Atlantic, although here too one has to be vigilant.
Thanks Richard
Glad to hear everything is going well. Like the idea of European based email service as opposed to the US. Thank you for your journalism. It’s appreciated, particularly at present when so much of what one reads is more like the script of a bad North Korean movie.
