Janet Fenton is is a Scottish Quaker ecofeminist, committed to peace, human rights and sustainability. She joined CND as a teenager and is now a Steering Group Member in the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.
Previously, she worked for many years in the theatre and in community arts, issue-based playwrighting and community/arts development in Scotland London and Ireland. She set up the environmental and social justice resource, the Ever Green Trust, and ran it for ten years. Still an active participant in Trident Ploughshares, Scottish CND, and WILPF, she is a Director of the Nuclear Information Service and Secretary of the Scottish Parliament Nuclear Disarmament Cross-Party Group.
Now, she commits most of her time to organising, with the Secure Scotland network to challenge and address prevailing toxic ideas of security that increase inequality at grass roots, national, transnational and parliamentary levels and she continues to write, including briefings, opinion pieces and other wee thoughts about life.
