My Journey to Yes
As part of our celebration of International Women’s Day this from Janie Nicoll.
I’m bored with No…
I’m tired of negativity
I’m jaded with “it won’t work”
I’m fed up with questions about a currency union
I’m impatient with constantly hearing the attitudes of business
I’m bored with men in suits with public school voices telling us what we can and cannot do.
Where is the creativity in No?
Where are the opportunities in negativity?
What’s the point of being pessimistic?
Where is the inspiration in cynicism?
What is stopping us from progressing to a fairer, more equal society?
Let’s just get on with it,
Let’s “be the change we want to see in the world”*
Let’s begin a new era, and rid ourselves of the last gasps of the British Empire,
Let’s break away from a country that behaves
like a sanctimonious parent chastising an errant child.
Let’s be proactive about our future
Let’s go with the positive spin,
Let’s participate.
Let’s rid ourselves of fear and be free**
I’m looking forward to that freedom.
I’m interested in what we can achieve,
I’m curious about our potential,
I’m inspired by our inventiveness
I’m enthusiastic about our energy
I’m up for the challenge,
I’m ready for a leap of faith,
I’ll welcome a change from a status quo that is untenable,
I’ll be glad to leave behind a political system that has failed us for generations,
that has allowed this country to wither on the vine,
I believe an independent Scotland will blossom,
I believe we deserve better, and that change is the only way forward,
I am happy to stand up and be counted,
I am an emphatic, unequivocal, enthusiastic, definite Yes.

Beautifully excellent. YES opens doors, NO closes them
Inspirational and positive.I can imagine a tremendous wave of confidence flowing over Scotland ,once the decision is made to break out.
Indeed. A door is in front of us. We walk through or walk away. Our choice. Thanks Janie.
Great graphics and message. “Rid yourself of fear and you’ll be free” What a motto for the Yes campaign! Many thanks for that.
Well said Janie. It’s that simple, just say Yes.
Yes!
