Meas Mór – Big Respect

Last year we featured the Kabin Crew’s anthem for Cruinniú na nÓg (Gathering of Youth), The Spark, which was a big viral hit [The Spark, by the Kabin Crew – Bella Caledonia]. Now young musicians from Edinburgh and Cork have united in a groundbreaking Irish-Scots Gaelic rap project led by Kabin Crew and Tinderbox Collective, a celebration of language, culture, and friendship.

The new song Meas Mór – which translates to Big Respect – has been released on YouTube alongside a music video filmed in both cities.

Funded by the Foras na Gaeilge – Colmcille Fund, and supported by Barr na gCnoc, University College Cork, the project saw the groups connect through online writing sessions, where they shared stories, built friendships, and co-wrote the rap track. The groups swapped slang and other phrases in Irish and Scots Gaelic and shared experiences of Cork and Edinburgh.
