’S e Farpais bhliadhnail filmichean goirid a th’ ann am FilmG, a tha a’ leasachadh tàlant ùr airson nam meadhanan Gàidhlig.

FilmG is the Gaelic short film competition. This is its 18th year. The format is super-simple, make a five-minute film in gaelic, about anything. FilmG says: “It exists to help people to make films in Scottish Gaelic, to build practical screen skills, and to help new Gaelic screen talent emerge.”

The films are in three categories, Under 12, Under 18 and Over 18.

Gàidhlig is Gaeilge

Two short films made in collaboration with Young Scot and spunout to raise awareness but also celebrate the similarities and differences between Irish and Scottish Gaelic.

Salm

The music video for ‘Salm’ by Gun Ghaol – filmed on Coll, Isle of Lewis.

Beinn Eadarra

Written by Darren Maclean and performed by three Evie Waddell’s. It’s about a mountainous ridge on Skye and the choreography mirrors its themes, imagery, and atmosphere.

CEARTAS

A short film about a Gaelic group of activists in the 80s who repainted English road signs with Gaelic.

    Piuthar Sgàthain by Lucy Keegan in the 18+ category is a cracking animation! And I’m told the author is in her 1st year of Gaelic. So impressive: there’s hope for us all…
